Against the back-drop of the recent crisis, the vote for women in parliament has failed. There has been strong feeling against the reserved seats.
We should not forget the editorial in The National a couple of months back about the many countries that have reserved seats for women.
A number of questions remain unanswered. Can the women in reserved seats become Ministers?
Do they get the same grant of funding for their electorate? Will the funding for men be shared with the women or will all get the same funding?
Will there be foreign interference in the role of women in parliament?
