ARV KILLS: NUTRITION BUILDS

This report is at the epicentre of AIDS awareness.

The centre of the HIV attack on the body is the small intestine or gut. The food and water passes through the mouth and down into the stomach and on into the small intestine where nutrients, salts and water are absorbed through the gut wall to pass to the liver by the hepatic portal vein.

Fat passes into the lymph vessels and carried to the heart to enter the large veins called the vena cava. The laying down of fat occurs in the vena cava and heart and can cause heart attacks as arteries of the heart become clogged by build up of blood clots.

Waste food passes down the large intestine and out as faeces. Water is absorbed in both the small and large intestines. If absorption does not take place in the small intestine, nutrients, salts and water pass out as diarrhoea or pek pek wara.

The small intestine is the site of millions of bacteria with the task of breaking down the nutrients before absorption. There are also dangerous bacteria and viruses in the small intestine. There can be cracks in the intestinal wall that allow the bacteria to enter the abdomen and make the person sick.

The small intestine is guarded by millions of CD4 cells. When the HIV virus enters the body the particles are pushed down the abdominal artery to the gut to be engulfed by the CD4 cells. But the HIV destroys the CD4 and reproduces in the CD4 cells.

Over a period of months, the HIV damages the gut wall and prevents nutrients, salts and water from being absorbed. These pass out of the body as diarrhoea which is a symptom of HIV infection.

When the sufferer takes antiretroviral medication, the HIV is destroyed in the blood stream. This stops the attack on the gut wall, giving the gut the opportunity to repair and allow nutrients, salts and water to be absorbed again.

Diarrhoea ceases if there is no continuing infection by bacteria or viruses. The person taking ARV medication must also take antibiotics such as Septrin or Amoxylin.

But the time has come for repair of the gut wall and all other tissues of the body. ARV medication must be accompanied by strong nutrition of vegetables, fruit, grains, nuts and lean meat to build up the nutrients that strengthen the tissues.

The person suffers weight loss during HIV infection as the protein is recycled from the body. Arms and legs become starvation thin as the muscles are stripped of protein. Hair falls out and the finger and toe nails crack.

The HIV is removed from the blood stream by regular ARV medication without default. There will still be a viral load in the blood if the person defaults on taking the ARV medication twice daily as prescribed.

The virus is not removed permanently but will rebound from the hiding places if medication ceases at any future time.

DANGEROUS ADVICE ON ARV TREATMENT

There is dangerous advice being given out by amateur advisors in the National AIDS Response in this country.

That is that an HIV infected person on antiretrovital (ARV) treatment can safely have sex with an HIV negative person without a condom.

That is foolish and dangerous advice that gives the false impression that a person on ARV has gone back to normal.

Once infected, always infected even though the viral count may be low. The virus is always in the hiding places ready to rebound if the sufferer defaults on ARV day by day.

If a person defaults, the virus may rebound from the hiding places and the viral count in the blood may be above zero. An HIV negative person may be infected.

The only option is for the HIV person to go for a viral load test at the hospital or clinic and follow the advice of the doctor.

Until cleared, a condom must always be used to protect the user of the other person.

SILENCE IN SCHOOLS

The enemy of both Outcome Based Education and Standards Based Education is the silence in the classrooms. There are students in high schools who never speak in class either to ask a question or answer a question.

They just sit like logs and may copy summaries from the blackboard. That is all they do. It is so frustrating for an expatriate teacher who is used to classes in overseas countries that are bubbling with students speaking. I wrote on this in 2011. Please click

Teaching in a rural high school is frustrating for an expatriate teacher. Having ... The teacher tellsclass in Papua New Guinea that they would talk about ...

Many teachers in Australian schools ask questions and students rush to answer. That is the lesson. The students supply the answers and solutions to questions posed by the teacher.

But not in Papua New Guinea a question by the teacher will often be responded to with silence. The teacher supplies the answers to the question and moves on.

I have been in schools where the progress of students was kept confidential. Test papers were given to students in class face down so that other students did not see the result. There could be jealousy and violence from the less capable students against the capable students. All students remain silent.

Students who answered the teachers questions may be threatened with violence by other students. Clever students are intimidated into silence. In cult schools, the cult leaders sought to ensure that all students were at the same dummo level. Clever students were afraid to speak.

Some students never respond to the teacher. If asked a question, many students will blink at the teacher and remain silent. Or they will put their heads down and ignore the question until the teacher moves on. Some may be illiterate and not understand English.

Some students will plagiarize their assignments out of text books or copy the assignment of another student. So it may be that many low level students have cheated their way through class assignments but the day of reckoning comes with the external exam.

It is good to see schools involved in spelling competitions and debates with other schools. The participants are setting a standard and may become the role models for other students provided they are not intimidated.

RHYTHM PHONICS IS STANDARDS BASED

All through my life I have learned the rhythm of language from nursery rhymes to poems my father taught me, songs I have heard and sung, dances and texts at all levels into my adult life.

All language has rhythm and can be learned so easily by young children chanting nursery rhymes. They learn by the following progression (1) understand the nursery rhyme (2) chant the rhyme (3) read the rhyme and (4) write the rhyme.

If they do this for 30 nursery rhymes, they will have learned at least 400 words which is a far more student friendly approach than the half witted and Outcome Based phonics programs being peddled around the nation by dubious Australian book sellers.

Learning by chanting is Standards Based. Young children can master 30 nursery rhymes with 400 words as opposed to the simple minded strategy of sounding out letters.

Why does Papua New Guinea Education lurch from bad decision to bad decision? They supported vernacular language takeover  that did so much damage to language learning. They supported Outcome Based Education that destroyed student success across the nation.

Now they are supporting a foolish sound out the words phonics program that is being promoted across the schools. This approach never teaches awareness of rhythm and beauty of the English language.

Rhythm phonics never ceases to teach students. High school students learn the beauty and rhythm of words they read and write by the rhythm of the sentences. Rhythm phonics goes on forever.

So now Outcome Based Learning has been discarded and the Education system is bending over backwards to promote Outcome Based phonics and ignore Standards Based phonics. Stupid tunnel visioned people.

OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION BETRAYS STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

I have been a teacher since 1965 when I started my career as a teacher of Grade 3 students in Brisbane.

At that time, teachers were required to bring students to a STANDARD. Grade 3 students had to know their multiplication tables off by heart.

They were to spell words and write out any incorrect words 50 times. They chanted sentences and spelling.

This was STANDARDS BASED EDUCATION that required students to master skills and knowledge and commit to memory for a lifetime.

From there, I became a high school teacher but never forgot the importance of STANDARDS. I drilled students daily with regular revision of words and knowledge. Students did well in the exams.

On leaving education in Queensland, I came first to the Papua New Guinea Defence Force to train officer cadets at Igam Barracks in 1975. Then I became a teacher in Papua New Guinea High Schools teaching English.

In my classes, students always achieved Distinctions and Credits at Bumayong, Busu and Immanuel Lutheran High Schools.

Only recently has the penny dropped on my quite spectacular success in teaching English. I was ignoring Outcome Based Education by overriding teaching with STANDARDS BASED EDUCATION.

Students mastered skills in writing sentences, paragraphs and essays on a wide range of topics including Personal Development.

They could write 10 lines on family, rights, responsibilities, needs, domestic violence, family planning, marriage, selecting a wife or husband, and dozens more. They could do it over and over.

I had ignored Outcome Based Education that required students to read, understand, answer questions and check their answers. I taught the knowledge and skills and required students to practise, practise and practise.

The Outcome Based study turned teachers into private study supervisors. Disgraceful. I was trained as a teacher to pound in the knowledge and revise regularly. I am a teacher not a study supervisor. Damn it !!

Now Outcome Based Education is in the rubbish bin with thousands of casualties among past students.

PNG students are studying English as a second language. They do not have the maturity or skill to master their own texts and teach themselves.

The job of a teacher is to TEACH based on STANDARDS.

P.S. I used Standards Based Education on this blog. Over 8 years on this my second blog , I have posted 2600 reports that drill and drill Positive Living, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, gays, lesbians, paedophiles, antiretroviral medication and many more.

The message has been pounded home across Papua New Guinea and the world. I am now repeating old texts with new polish for the next generation of blog readers. My own standard is rising.

This blog has almost 80,000 hits from PNG readers with about 150 every two days. Paedophiles beware.

DO STREET KIDS BELONG TO PARENTS, OLDER STREET BOYS OR PAEDOPHILES?

We all think that we can take stray dogs home if we find one on the street. Paedophiles think they can take street kids home too.

Over recent months, the campaign on rights of women and girls has moved into top gear in the media of Papua New Guinea. It comes down to the rights of gay and lesbian men to have sex with children and lowering of the age of consent.

All the blame is placed on parents and families according to the foreign lesbians. Statistics have appeared to show that women and girls are abused by men. No mention is made of the violence of lesbians on their lovers.

The PNG Government has made a paradigm shift to family and the responsibility of men and boys. Churches have followed.  The foreign lesbians have raised the stakes to highlight violence and abuse to women and girls.

All blame is being put back on families. Lesbians give full rights to children and no rights to parents. Yet the blame for abuse falls on parents especially fathers.

Families are to blame for the high levels of HIV infection among sex workers and men -sex-man. This is a mind game on the Government to force same sex legislation. It will all get better after that so we are led to believe.

There must be a link between UNAIDS, UN Women and the US Embassy. All are based in New York. Now a report has come out from the US Embassy on trafficking of women and girls. How did the UN and US Embassy find such information?

AIDS Holistics has regularly pointed out the fake statistics of the UN lesbians. These women based on Port Moresby never move out to the streets or rural areas. Yet they are experts on child abuse, child trafficking and child labour.

There was a recent claim that 9000 female sex workers are in Port Moresby. How many are young underaged girls not saved by paedophile women but taken home for sex?

Some months before there was a report that there are about 9000 LGBT children in Port Moresby.

How many sex workers are under-aged boys and girls? That is why the foreign paedophiles want the boys and girls to live on the streets.

A report in the media today advises that street boys sell goods supplied by older boys and bought in Chinese shops. Boys are not forced to sell by parents.

But we must not forget that some kids are on the streets because of family break-up and abuse. Welfare is talking about reuniting children with their parents and family.

PEER PRESSURE NOT PARENTAL NEGLECT

We are forever being treated to media reports on child labour in Papua New Guinea put out by the foreign paedophiles. It is all the fault of parents that children are begging on the streets.

Today in The National the Head of Welfare Simon Yanis explained that most children on the streets have families but they are being driven on to the streets by peer pressure.

We all know that the PNG culture allows boys to be part of their peer group from early age. Some villages have houses for the boys to sleep in with the other boys. Parents look on.

But in the urban areas, the peer group takes the young boys on to the streets. The pressure is on the parents to know where they are and to keep them safe.

Some boys beg, steal, eat away from the house and sleep in drains. Parents worry but there is little they can do, particularly if there is family break-up.

Some young boys will have started smoking marijuana and drinking home brew. They are focused away from the family and ready to move into raskol groups.

It is time for silence of the foreign paedophiles who make statements about families without actually knowing anything. The view from their apartment patios does not give any perspective on families and street kids.

In modern PNG there are young girls taking to the streets to be preyed on by national and foreign paedophiles.

They may have become part of the 9000 sex workers in Port Moresby. The foreign lesbians have all the statistics. They make the statistics up themselves.
