MIND YOUR HEART WITH POSITIVE LIFESTYLE

Editorial The National letter to the editor 7 October Misak Ruri

Heart diseases are not gene-oriented but caused by careless eating behaviour and lifestyle.

As part of a healthy diet eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, fibre-rich whole grains, fish, nuts, legumes  seeds and vigorous exercise.

Our hearts are fragile and so we must take care.

Comment: We can see what happens to our hearts by examining the sheep hearts in the super market. These have a layer of fat at the top with fat extending down the coronary arteries.

Fat passes from the small intestine up to the heart by the Lymph vessels. Fat then settles into the coronary and lymph vessels. If any fat breaks off and blocks an artery of the heart, we suffer a heart attack.

AIDS Holistics got the fruit and vegetables message right for all these years. Fruit and vegetables keep us healthy and will not kill us as the AusAID and UN paedophiles have claimed.

I think I will have to start buying bunches of peanuts at the markets for the family. Nuts are a key part of Positive Eating.

COX MISUSES NAME OF NAHAU ROONEY

Nahau Rooney was a patriot of Papua New Guinea. Elizabeth Cox stood for Elizabeth Cox. She regarded the National HIV/AIDS response as her private money making scheme. Hence her book publishing scam.

Cox was an expert in pretending to be friends of her enemies. She was my friend until I found she was telling people I was child molester. She targeted young girls including my daughters.

The nation was saddened to hear of the death of Nahau Rooney, one of the three female politicians at the beginning of the Papua New Guinea nation. She was strong, committed and unafraid to pursue issues.

Nahau was a widow with children and grand-children. At least the children are now adult and independent.

There was a report in the weekend media about her life. The report focused on the view of rogue activist Elizabeth Cox who was trying to show that she was kind, honest and strong like Nahau Rooney. In her dreams. Back stabbing was Cox's special skill that got her sacked everywhere.

She had nothing but praise for the Nahau Rooney whom Cox knew as the United Nations Women Director for the Pacific. Cox's words were nothing but hypocrisy.

Nahau was a mother of children who supported FAMILY. Cox on the other hand opposed family and pursued a hidden agenda of raising a paedophile gay and lesbian society in Papua New Guinea mainly for foreign paedophiles.

In early 2003, AIDS Holistics was formed with focus on FAMILY, FAITH and NUTRITION. Cox and Watson of AusAID demanded that these issues be removed from the Positive Living message.

According to Watson and Cox, these were not relevant in modern PNG society and discriminatory against people with no family and faith. Nahau Rooney supported loving family and faith. AIDS Holistics was banned and sabotaged at all levels and my work permit blocked by Watson and Cox.

Cox set up a hate campaign against AIDS Holistics and its founder. She inspired the hate of the paedophile lobby with the claim that women and children were being murdered by violence and FRUIT and VEGETABLES.

I fear that Cox may be no longer employed as adoptions officer for Barnados in Sydney. With the place for women now set up in Bougainville and possibly at the election of Papua New Guinea women in 2022, Cox may be back to set herself up again though approaching 70 years old.

She left UN Women after falling foul of the Head of UN Women Michelle Bachelet who wanted to take her away from the Pacific role.

There was a response on Google about a mile long allegedly signed by up to 100 women supporting Cox. She already had her contract terminated in AusAID for fraud in publishing books and lack of professionalism.

Cox made the claim that she was the most experienced welfare advocate in the Pacific. That is without FAMILY and FAITH and the founder of AIDS Holistics murdered on fake charges of violence and child abuse. She could not get rid of him.

It almost happened. He was hauled before a Kangaroo Court as the result of Cox hate news that he molested children. Village men were ready to kill him with bush knives.

He was rescued by a welfare officer who was driving past. I think someone asked her to come  But she will not tell. Do you believe in God? Rachel was sacked a month later probably for interfering in a killing. The paedophile lobby was deadly serious.

Cox molested teenage girls. Always accuse your accuser of the same crime.

I was most annoyed to hear Cox praising Nahau Rooney who was an icon and loved in Papua New Guinea. Cox was a rogue, thief, cheat and paedophile predator who loved teenage vaginas.

If PNGDF officers can be sent to prison for blocking Sandline, Cox and Watson can be sent to prison for sabotaging the PNG HIV/AIDS response. Cox was a naturalised citizen who committed treason.

TEACHING TOK PISIN BY RHYTHM PHONICS

Rhythm phonics puts no pressure and maximum achievement on students. All students passed the standard at the RAAF School of languages. It will be the same with elementary students in Papua New Guinea.

Teaching English to PNG elementary students is not my first experience with Rhythm Phonics. For 14 years, I conducted Tok Pisin courses of 4 weeks duration at the RAAF School of Languages at Point Cook in Melbourne. Over 4000 defence personnel attended.

Tok Pisin is a beautiful and smooth language that runs on weak-strong stresses. I found that many defence personnel were not skilled in high school grammar. So I taught Tok Pisin without theory and total focus on rhythm patterns.

The result would be that after all these years, many past defence students will have never forgotten the patterns they learned that formed the basis of their Tok Pisin usage in Papua New Guinea. I have never forgotten the bush poems my father taught me at 7 years old.

The Rhythm Phonics in teaching English in PNG schools will have the  same effect. It is perfect for teaching English to elementary school children in this country as it was for teaching Tok Pisin to Australian defence personnel.

Languages of the world are rhythmic and poetic. PNG students may never learn that about English without rhythm phonics.

We used to say that Tok Pisin has been bastardized by expatriates who have not attended the Tok Pisin course. Now Tok Pisin is being bastardized by young Papua New Guinea people and losing its sweet touch.

RHYTHM PHONICS FOR ELEMENTARY GRADES

Young children have a very limited world waiting to expand as they grow to adulthood. They live in a family with parents, brothers and sisters.

Their world is focused on home, neighbours, brothers and sisters and their extended family. They can go out with parents to town, the beach, the river and many other places. They watch TV and expand their knowledge of the world.

Young children have come to school to read, write, speak and listen to English that may be a second language to them. Their experience with English needs to be focused on their world to be expanded as they mature into the wide world.

All of this comes under the heading of rhythm phonics. Young students come to understand the rhyme and rhythm of words in sentences. This is where many phonics teachers fail. They think that phonics is just about words.

It is important for phonics teachers to have a set vocabulary from which to choose words for sentences. Students learn to chant words in sentences. All words will be within the daily lives of most students.

Personal pronouns: I, me, my, she, he, him, they, them. their, we, you, it and its.

Family words: mother, father, cousin, uncle, aunt, grand father, grand mother, cousin sister, and cousin brother.

Connector words:  to, from, in, into, with, from, under, above, for, near, about, below,

Daily words: house, car, river, village, school, garden, fruit, vegetables, beach, town, road, pig, duck, dog, horse, cow, snake, truck, hospital, doctor, clothes, food, dinner, bottle and book.

Describing words: tall, small, fat, happy, sad, fast, slow, sick, big, little, red, blue, white, black and green.

Total 70 words for early phonics lessons. Young students can achieve in stages. They will hear and understand first. Then they will read and understand. They will then write and understand. These 70 words may be learned in stages in 2 months. Teachers must not expect all at once.

Now it is the time to promote the rhythm of sentences that students will chant daily within the words above.

A key task is for the students to learn the connector words to be used for the rest of their lives. Strong stresses are in green below.

There are many sequences that can be chanted daily to give students appreciation of rhythm of sentences. This can be linked to singing in class and reciting poetry which are key parts of phonics. These activities died in schools in the 1960s.

As a student in primary school in the 1950s, I recall our singing from the ABC schools program. The presenter would have us recite songs before we sang.

He was an old fashioned teacher giving us the phonics of the song. But teachers can have students chant word patterns daily as below. The students need to appreciate the phonics of ordinary sentences.

I go   x l

I go   x l

I go to town xl   xl

I go to town  xl  xl

I go to buy some food  xl  xl  xl

I go to buy some food  xl  xl  xl

I go to school   xl   xl

I go to school   xl   xl

I go to learn to read and write  xl   xl  xl  xl

I go to learn to read and write  xl   xl   xl xl

oh arise

o arise    all ye sons   of this land

x  x  l        x  x   l         x  x    l

Let us sing    of a joy      to be free

x  x  l              x  x  l          x  x  l

Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill

  l         x      l

went up the hill

   l      x     x   l

So the lessons based on the above can involve chanting of patterns, getting the feel of the connector words in weak stress, learning words and appreciating the beauty of words in sentences. Many PNG students never speak in class.

As the students advance in grades, the list of words can be expanded but the students must never forget the connectors. They will be introduced in higher grades to the elegance of complex sentences. They learn to write sentences with little needless repetition of words:

I saw Peter.

I saw Paul.

I saw Mary.

I saw Peter, Paul and Mary.

He opened the door.

He went inside.

He put a letter on the table.

He opened the door, went inside and put a letter on the table.

Opening the door, he went inside and put a letter on the table.

The soldiers were recruited.

The soldiers were sent overseas.

The soldiers were recruited, trained and sent overseas.

That is all for another day.
