VALE TIM FISCHER DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER AND SOLDIER

The Australian nation is sad at the passing of Tim Fischer lover of the Australian nation and fighter to the end. We learn that he was an officer of 1RAR who served as a platoon commander in Vietnam.

It was sad to hear that he died of leukemia. Is it possible that he suffered from the agent-orange that the Australian and US Air force sprayed on the jungle in Vietnam?

I knew of one veteran who returned to Australia and married to be the father of six children with heart problems and brain damage. The youngest suffered from gross cerebral palsy. They lived in Geelong.

It is to the eternal shame of Australia and the USA that there are hundreds of deformed adults and children in Vietnam today. What is being done by Australia and the US to bring treatment and relief to these people?

The Prime Minister recently visited Vietnam and announced that Australia wanted a deep trade relationship with Vietnam. What about the agent orange cripples??

That was a dirty war.
