MEDIA FOCUS ON POSITIVE LIVING

In recent years, there has been a media focus on Positive Living though it is usually called healthy living. All issues that were the focus of AIDS Holistics now appear in the PNG media with more added and often more detail.

We read of the importance of fruit, vegetables, grains and nuts, clean water, exercise, reduced sugar intake to prevent diabetes 2, dangers of smoking particularly in pregnancy, dangers of home brew, marijuana, and e-cigarettes.

Recently the Post Courier had a front page headline on the dangers of prolonged chewing of betel nut with mouth cancer (we knew that), heart problems, strokes and heart attacks. That may explain why so many PNG people die early in their 30s and 40s.

Then there was the explanation of the dangers of immunity of the HIV virus to first and second level ARV medication. People can die if they default on their ART.

The only error in recent times was the advice from the National AIDS Council that people on ART do not need to use a condom during intercourse.

If they have defaulted in the past they may have a residual of HIV in their blood that has come out of the hiding places.  There must be a viral load check first and condoms worn at all times up to that point.

Churches are talking more and more to the media about family, love and fidelity with no fear of the hatred of the foreign activists of the UN and AusAID.

The UN activists once claimed to all that Positive Living was a false message full or errors. They had AIDS Holistics banned on that basis.
