MESSAGE TO SECRETARIES OF EDUCATION AND HEALTH & HIV/AIDS

Please be advised that the Positive Living program of HIV/AIDS awareness and the Personal Development curriculum of schools are basically the same.

Both focus on the needs, rights and responsibilities of family members with emphasis on values, caring and honesty. The message was breathed into life by the founder of AIDS Holistics from 2002.

He had studied Biology in high school and university for 3 years in Australia. He was a teacher of Biology for 3 years in Australia and Papua New Guinea.

He participated in family awareness workshops in churches in Australia and Papua New Guinea.

From 2000 to 2002, he cared for a baby son and his mother dying of AIDS. Positive Living kept the mother alive for almost 12 years with 3 years of care at the time when antiretroviral drugs were not freely available.

She made matters worse for her and baby by secretly smoking. The nicotine and tars went into her blood and then into her breast milk.

The baby had chest infections with her HIV viral infection. She probably gave the virus to her baby. Breast feeding mothers HIV or not should not smoke.

The mother suffered all the horrors of dementia in final AIDS. She believed she was being attacked by evil spirits in her bedroom at night.

Highlands men wanted to kill her for stealing my two daughters from their highlands mother.

She was convinced an old woman from Samarai changed herself into a black bird and waited to kill her in a tree outside the house.

No-one but Linda saw her red glaring eyes. Her terror started with the onset of dementia, the result of brain damage from water and salts not absorbed through the HIV damaged small intestine.

The founder set up AIDS Holistics and struggled to expand the message year by year bogged down with serious hatred from foreign advisors.

They claimed that Positive Living was full of errors and killed people. They told that to Linda's family. I know of no error in 15 years of posting two websites. People died a decade and a half ago from antiretroviral medication not available.

As a teacher, I conducted Personal Development courses for Grades 9, 10 and 11 at two private schools. The Lutheran school renamed the course the Christian family Living course.

The founder was introduced to nutrition and family living through the home study of the Seventh Day Adventist church by the late Joe Lari founder of 3 Angels Care.

The founder gave talks in Tok Pisin after mass to the congregation of St Peters in Erima, Port Moresby. People still approached him in the street years later.

So the Positive Living and Personal Development messages were basically the same. Both focus on the importance of family rights and responsibilities.

We read in the media that the negative behavior of young people is getting worse year by year.

That may not apply to the many past and present students who have been thoroughly briefed on the rights and responsibilities of families over 7 years in school.

They may mature to become responsible and caring spouses and parents of the next generation.
