DIABETES TWO A MAJOR KILLER

The National 30 January 2019

A media report today advises that diabetes two is a major killer in East New Britain. That would apply across the entire nation.

In our Positive Living message, there has been a constant warning about the dangers of high blood sugar levels that can cause diabetes two leading to heart attacks and strokes.

We have led the field in promoting this message. No such warning has come from AusAID and the United Nations.

There are so many people in this country addicted to soft drink and beer. If a man spends his pay on two cartons of beer and drinks half a dozen bottles, his blood sugar level will peak.

Children and adults think that a Coca Cola drink and a biscuit is a perfect meal. That is very dangerous nutrition that will lead to obesity, malnutrition and high blood sugar.

People with HIV and on antiretroviral medication are also in danger of build up of fat on the abdomen with a diet rich in fat that excludes fruit, vegetables, grains and nuts.

They may suffer from LIPODYSTROPHY and diabetes two. Reduction of sugar is a key aspect of Positive Living.

People of Papua New Guinea have the benefit of vegetable gardens and local markets with masses of cheap fresh fruit and vegetables.
