It is easy to say that people will only stop sorcery killings when the become more educated. It may take generations. People were being burned at the stake for sorcery in Europe several hundred years ago.
Sorcery can go on despite education when the men in charge of villages are not educated. We know that mosquitoes can cause sickness and death. But the victim was the only villager to die. Who sent mosquitoes to kill him?
People can die from drinking homebrew and smoking marijuana. My son was a very good boy? Who worked magic to make him drink homebrew and smoke marijuana? We cannot win.

But sorcery killings can have other motives. An old man has a large area of village land. He has no family. Let us accuse him of sorcery and kill him. Then we can take his land. No one likes him anyway.
Sorcery killings will involve the killing of both men and women. At times there may be a small group accused and killed. We regularly read in the media of a number of men or women killed for sorcery.
