WHAT DRIVES YOUR LIFE?

Sunday Sermon. Pearson Kolo - the Sunday Bulletin 8 March 2020 P.22

Everyone's life is driven by something. What is the driving force in your life? Many people are driven by guilt. They spend their entire lives running from regrets. Guilt driven people are manipulated by memories.

They allow their past to control the future. They often punish themselves by disrupting their own success.

We are products of our past. But we do not have to be prisoners of it. God's purpose is not limited by your past. What happiness fo those whose guilts have been forgiven.

Many people are driven by bitterness and anger. They hold on to hurts and never get over them. They rehearse their pain over and over again. Resentment always hurts you more than the person you dislike.

Your past is past. Nothing will change it. You are hurting yourself with your bitterness. Learn from it then let it go. Many people are driven by fear. The fears may be the result of traumatic experience, unrealistic expectations or growing up in a high controlled home.

Fear is a self imposed prison that will keep you from becoming what God wants for you. Many people are driven by materialism. The desire to control becomes the centre of their lives.

They think that having more will make them happy. Possessions only provide temporary happiness. Wealth can be lost instantly through many uncontrolled factors.

Many people are driven by the need for approval. They allow themselves to be governed by the expectations of parents, spouses, teachers or brothers and sisters. Unfortunately those who follow the crowd often get lost in it.

Knowing your purpose gives meaning to your life. When life has meaning, we can bear almost anything. Knowing your purpose simplifies your life. It defines what you do and what you do not do. People who do not know their purpose try to do too much. Knowing your purpose focuses your life.

What ultimately matters most is not what people say about you but what God says. Everyone will stand before God.
