Living well with HIV/AIDS

Eat vegetables and fruit every day. These foods are important for person to grow well and fight infection. A recommended list is provided above. Fruit and vegetables produce nutrients known as antioxidants that protect the immune system.

There is a phenomenon that is difficult to explain on the nutrition related to HIV/AIDS. There seems to be a a strong tendency among the medical institutions to reject the importance of a fruit and vegetable diet for people suffering from HIV infection.

Well known South African advocate David Patient has commented on the reluctance of the medical profession in South Africa to advise fruit and vegetables nutrition.

He pointed out that fruit and vegetables do not cure HIV/AIDS but slow down the onset of AIDS by strengthening the immune system. AIDS Holistics has the same view despite condemnation from the unqualified advisors of UNAIDS.

In Papua New Guinea, there is total silence on fruit and vegetable nutrition from the National AIDS Council and the United Nations. Do some doctors prefer to send people to the hospital rather than the fruit and vegetable market? Is there more profit?

There is total silence from the World Health Organization on the importance of a long term diet of fruit and vegetables for people suffering from CoVID 19. People with strong immune systems may well survive the virus provided no pre-existing ailments.

David Patient introduced the name Positive Living to Papua New Guinea with pre-conference papers sent to the Chiangmai HIV/AIDS conference in Thailand in 2002. His message was based on the need for family and hope.

David Patient has recently died of pneumonia after ART medication for 30 years.
