I am most pleased that Dr Nick Dala has been appointed by Dr Sir Puka Temu
Minister for Health and HIV/AIDS as the President of the National AIDS Council.
The National HIV/AIDS response has had a very bumpy road
over the last 15 years. Changes have come in recent months with the paradigm
shift to responsibilities of men and boys in families.
This has been supported
by the Prime Minister, Governor General, Department for Community Development
and Catholic Archbishop for Port Moresby.
AIDS Holistics
undertakes to support the family approach. An article in the media today quoted
the Minister as ordering workshops for journalists to get the message right.
The key to the HIV/AIDS response is family.
Let us hope that this brings to an end the fake news over several years from foreign activists that all PNG women are abused and attacked and that all men are violent.
There is reported to be groping and cat-calls on public transport. Not true. Shame Conn and Parkop shame. What a waste of public meri seif buses.
