The brutal killing of Jennelyn Kennedy highlighted the corruption of police and PNGDF. She was accused of being brutalized by Boship Kaiwa who was a member of the family that owned G4S security.
Both police and PNGDF would be aware that G4S would be a source of employment when they retire. They do not want to wait around like Jennelyn's grandfather for a pension. So they were reluctant to cause any heart ache on the GBV of Kaiwa to protect their chances of employment with G4S.
They went to the grandfather's house in Murray Barracks and took the 19 year old girl back to her killer. The grandfather had not left his married quarter as his pension has not been paid after all these years. People who retire in this country lose their dignity and rights. This is the sign of a primitive banana republic.
As a retired Australian Army senior Officer who worked in support of the PNGDF, I am ashamed at the decline in integrity and discipline in officer and other ranks. A police officer was recently killed.
PNG must take care that the PNGDF and RPNGC do not turn the country into a banana republic. Citizens are being bashed, robbed and killed by police officers. Citizens are required to lie down while their wallets and cell phones are stolen.
Idi Amin of Uganda had a goon squad that was allowed to roam at will, rob, kill and imprison any person whatever. So too the South African Government in Apartheid days. Their goon squad had complete freedom to kill.
The worst goon squads in the world come from the US police force who are allowed to kill black people. If charged most are set free.
High ranking people can carry out sex abuse of children while the police turns a blind eye. Grass roots offenders go straight to prison.
