Commencing with our column in The National over 2 1/2 years in 2005-2007 with 126 reports, AIDS Holistics provided the only comprehensive and practical advice to people living with HIV/AIDS and families.
The only other advice came from the gays and lesbians in UN and AusAID who advised on using condoms when we koap, violence of men and abuse of women and girls. They seemed to regard those with the virus as dead meat.
This advice was completely useless for people with HIV/AIDS in fear for their lives and seeking advice on how to live. I had a son and his mother dying of AIDS. We never learned anything from the official propaganda. Both died in 2002 and 2003, prior to ART provided free.
Only last month, the National AIDS Council gave out their first practical advice ever and told the community about immunity to ARV medication.
Let us hope that this is the start of an official new and practical strategy on living with HIV/AIDS.
