There is a parallel between the low temperatures of the little ice age in medieval Europe and the present global warming.

The temperature was so low that medieval people stayed in the warmth of their homes in the company of millions of rats covered with rat fleas and bubonic plague.

Every person was soon infected particularly those in cities. There was no medicine.  Men walked the streets with their carts calling out "bring out your dead".
