PNG Attitude is bringing out the best in PNG writing. But this poem is sleeze.
It is not a good idea for writers always to express exactly what they are thinking. It might at times strike too close to home.
This poem is deeply sexist and rapist. It casts a slur on men.
Waitresses are there to earn a living and may be mothers, wives, daughters and sisters.
They are not to be objects of deep lust to be mentally undressed as they work and taken away some where for sex.

lights, liquor, ladies
sex.
all the nightclub waitresses are actresses
in my pornographic vision
they bring more poison; desirable, drinkable;
and another bottle
brown, wet, frothing at the top end
wrap your lips around that babe!
i got sex on my mind, always
sex.
warm hands closing aground that
hard slick liquid length
lips sucking deeply at the tip of that fag,
rubbing-up on the floor
bump and grind
babe give me more!
i got sex on my mind, always
sex.
somehow, amidst the haze of cigarette smoke,
beyond the urinal fumes and alcoholic vomit,
i find myself, between one kind of relief
and another
a stranger in the mirror asks,
‘who are you fucking tonight babe?’
i got sex on my mind, always
sex.
she’s pointing at me beneath that tank top,
bouncing, in tight pants and bling-blings,
those gyrating hips – seduced by disco lights,
spinning balls and brains and all
and i’m thinking it’s got a sign says,
“take me drunk babe, i’m home!”

sex.
tray loads later i ask her again,
‘what’s your name babe?’
she makes some squeal that’s drowned
by the dj’s pumping system
and right now i’m picturing a bushy little grotto
damp with sweat and other sticky fluids…
i got sex on my mind, always
sex.
diving in i seem to forget something
about a poster i read in a hallway
which someone said was good advice
but it doesn’t make a difference anyway
they got some retired politician instead of that doctor
and i never liked rubber gloves either.
i’m drowning somewhere between this dream
some ladies panties and the last drink.
