Ivan Milat was
convicted of murder of 7 backpackers in the state forest south of Sydney in
1989.
He has recently been
diagnosed with cancer and expect to die at the age of 74. Reports are that he has
never confessed to the murders.
I recall a media report at the time that stated that he
had claimed to have enjoyed killing the tall young German man who pleaded for
his life before being shot.
Was there a young
German man shot? Was the statement deemed inadmissible by the Court?
Still he was sentenced
to prison on 7 murders to stay in gaol for the rest of his life.
