PORNOGRAPHY AND PAEDOPHILIA

Every day in the Papua New Guinea media, there is a report of a young girl being sexually abused by a man.

Often he is a member of the family or  neighbour. The young girl may have been waylaid on her way to school or enticed to come into his house for some reason.

He may have been someone she trusted as a member of her family or a family friend. But then he breached her trust,  raped her or removed her clothes and played with her private parts.

He may have offered to give her money or threatened to kill her if she told any person about what had happened. But the girl may have told her parents and the man was arrested and charged. Recently a young man threatened to cut up the woman's baby if she refused sex.

What is going on in the world? Sex with children seems to have become a daily occurrence for men who are attracted to the bodies of young boys and girls.

I remember as a young boy with sisters and their girlfriends at the house. I ignored the young girls as I saw them as kids.

The change has come with mobile phones and pornography that is available to all including men and young children. 

There is pornography of sex with children which undoubtedly inspires young and old men to try their luck with little girls and boys. Young children now know about sex at a much younger age.

In media reports girls tell of men showing them pornography as a way of enticing them to accept sex.

Men who molest daughters or sons are very foolish as they are destroying their quality of life and the quality of their family life. The man may end up in prison.

He loses trust of family members who draw away as they become adults and never bring children to meet their grandfather in his prison cell. He has no freedom. 

Prisoners may punish him for being a child molester. If released from prison, he may not find a place in the homes of his sons and daughters.

He had damaged the esteem of the young girl. As a father, grandfather, uncle of the girl he has destroyed trust. She even rejects the advances of young men who want to be her husband.
