WOMEN STANDING FOR PARLIAMENT IN 2012

Good men in Papua New Guinea will regret the disappointment of many women over the failure of the legislation for 22 seats. Many women will feel sad and betrayed.

All the more reason why women should be included in the political process far more than they are at the present time. There are 41 political parties registered for the 2012 election.

Women should be included in  the parties and pre-selected for their electorates. Perhaps the problem in the past has been that the women had stood as independents.

Let them be part of a team of men and women. Let them be supported by good men.

So the effort to pass the 22 seat legislation has not been wasted. Women have much to offer working with their male parliamentary colleagues.

If a woman joins the push of the foreign lesbians, she will bring trouble on herself.

They gave Dame Carol Kidu great stress in a push to have gay and lesbian sex decriminalized. Let us hope that the good lady stands again.

If several women are elected, Dame Carol will be the tower of strength. She has suffered and won through over many years.
