The Minister for National Planning and Monitoring wants Papua New Guinea and National Capital District residents to buy local fresh products instead of importing.
Most PNG fresh products are organically grown and healthier.
Sam Basil was referring to the fact that produce from overseas may be contaminated with fertilizers and pesticides. PNG produce was more healthy.
This is in line with the importance of fruit and vegetables in keeping the immune system strong. It applies to individuals protecting against sickness including HIV/AIDS and Coronavirus.
