DO NOT DRINK DETERGENT

Recently President Donald Trump suggested that people drink detergent to clean Coronavirus out of their system. This was followed by an uproar that led to Trump suggesting he was being sarcastic.

We must not drink any liquid that is intended for industrial or domestic purposes. Recently over 800 people in Iran were poisoned by methylene. This often goes by the name of anti-freeze used in the radiators of cars.

There are at times people in Papua New Guinea who put methylene in their home brew with death and blindness as a result.

About 30 years ago, a group of villagers in New Britain found a bottle floating in the sea. They mixed the liquid with their home brew. Many died or went blind.

About two years ago, a groups of grade 12 boys in the highlands celebrated the end of their grade 12 exam with methylene laced home brew.

The chemistry teacher mixed the brew. Perhaps a student dropped the methylene in the bucket without being seen.

One student died and others went blind. What a foolish way to celebrate the end of an exam.

The problem is there is confusion between ethylene and methylene. The name of one should be changed.

For people facing coronavirus, bleach in water can be used to clean hands and wipe rails in shops and seats in vehicles. I wash my hands in bleach daily and dry my hands on my beard.
