PASTOR ABHORS HOMOSEXUALITY

The National 2 August 2012

A church pastor is strongly against calls by Dame Carol Kidu for decriminalization of homosexuality saying it is not as widely accepted by Papua New Guineans as she claims.

Pastor Peter Ropra described homosexuality as an absurd, abnormal and immoral practice introduced by western influences.

I am disgusted and totally disagree with Dame Carol calling on the next Government to decriminalize homosexuality and further to claim that it is accepted in PNG society and a norm.

That is absurd and untrue to say the least.

He said it was unheard of in traditional society for two men to be living together out of love for each other as a man amd woman.

The same is for two women to be living together out of love for each other.

Ropra said that PNG society had values and principles that govern them.

These are based on common law that a woman unless handicapped had to marry for the purpose of procreation and to play her role in society as a woman.

He said it was a disgrace to the family, village, tribe or clan if a man or woman did not marry.

We are a Christian country as enshrined in our Constitution and the basis of our Christian beliefs and morals is founded on the word of God.

Key gay/lesbian/paedophile activists in Papua New Guinea are:

Elizabeth Cox - past care and counselling officer of HIV/AIDS AusAID. Head of UN Women in Fiji.

Stewart Watson - past deputy team leader HIV/AIDS AusAID. Now Head of UNAIDS in Papua New Guinea. On World AIDS Day 2011 last, he wrote that we should not hide behind family and faith.

Sir Peter Barter - past Chairman of the National AIDS Council. Once advised the founder of AIDS Holistics that he had taken steps for his daughters to be taken into care.
