POLITICIAN ACQUITS TO HIS ELECTORATE

It was good to read the full page advertisement in the Papua New Guinea daily newspaper The National 9 August 2012.

It was placed by the recently past Governor of the Eastern Highlands Mal Kela Smith to acquit his spending over 10 years.

He has worked in the areas of law and order, education, power, health and roads in the districts of the electorate.

It would be good if all politicians were required to do this at the end of each year and at the end of the term of office.

Too often we read that citizens complain that there is no development going on in the electorate at the hands of their local Member.

Continuity and uniformity could be achieved if all politicians were working from a National Development Plan and Electorate Development Plan. Please click:

ACCOUNTABILITY IS THE KEY

Many politicians would be afraid to publish a report such as above. It would show that they have deliberately neglected sections of the electorate.

To become a politician is to support the electorate as a whole.
