We must all fear for the future of the world. Our planet is becoming overpopulated, overexploited and overheated.
We have come out of the little ice age that turned the polar regions into deep ice beds and glaciers. Now the world is going into a hot phase that will last longer than we all will live. It began with the industrial revolution
Our forests are becoming massively depleted and destroyed by forest wild fires and logging. Oceans are overheating to produce wave after wave of hurricanes that lash the foreshores of islands and continents.
Billions of wild life are being destroyed in wild fires. Forest areas are ceasing to become the places for idyllic living as hundreds of homes are burned, perhaps year by year to come.
Islands and continental lowlands will be covered with sea water, removing land for millions of the world population and covering arable farming land.
Nations will build dams across the rivers that supply water for neighbouring nations but deny water in the future. Disputes and wars will arise.
Pollution will return to cities that only this year had clear skies that opened the vista of stars and blue skies. Now the pollution has returned as lock-downs ceased for CoVID 19.
There are now dire predictions about the state of the world in decades to come. The temperature of the world will rise. Many of us will be dead and leave our children and grand-children to struggle and suffer.
Massive output of carbon faces the world still. Coal mines will not stop and provide fuel for factories and millions of cooking fires.
Let us hope that the nations of the world take steps to increase sustainable energy generation with solar power, electric cars and wind mills. There are giant steps being taken but these are not yet enough.
The clock is ticking. Perhaps the author of Superman had a few clues. The people of Krypton argued until their planet overheated and blew up.
