Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
May 22, 2020 — Acid reflux occurs when the sphincter muscle at the lower end of your esophagus relaxes at the wrong time, allowing stomach acid to back up into your esophagus.
This can cause heartburn and other signs and symptoms. Frequent or constant reflux can lead to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
I once suffered from gastric reflux which caused deep pain in the chest after I had eaten or drunk food or fluid.
I thought it was a heart attack but the symptoms were different. A heart attack has pain travelling down the arteries in the arms and causing pain in the jaw.
Then the gastric reflux just disappeared after a month or two. I live another day.
