Now that Dame Carol has dragged out a few legislative museum pieces on prostitution, gays and lesbians, may we suggest that there is a far more urgent legislation on the books that must be causing severe distress to PNG men?
This legislation was recorded in the historical book Taim Bilong Masta. It was called the White Woman’s Protection Act and was in force up to the 1960s.
By this legislation, a PNG man could be arrested for assault if he spoke to a white woman in public without her permission. Like the gays, lesbians and transsexuals, this legislation must still create fear. That is why older PNG men would attract a white woman’s attention by coughing.
Can we leave it to you Dame Carol to have this legislation removed? I am mocking, Dame Carol.
