When I was a small boy and had a sore
or cut on my body, my mother would clean the infected area with a cloth. She would bathe in hot water with a
tablespoon of Dettol and bind with a bandage and ointment.

There were times when an infection on
the leg would bring a red line as the infection went upwards. My mother would spring into action
with a bowl of hot water and Dettol. I would bathe my infected part until the
red line went down. The water had to be painfully hot.
Those days are long gone. Now we
reach for a packet of Amoxylin and take one tablet every six hours. The world has gone antibiotic crazy.
I fear antibiotics as I know that the bacteria in the small intestine is being
unnecessarily killed in large batches.
There are good and bad bacteria and
all are killed by antibiotics. If we take too many too often, we are harming
our bodies defence system. To take antibiotics, we have to take
a full dose over several days. But many of us stop taking the dosage when the
headache stops or the infection declines.
We are giving the bacteria the chance
to be immune. I am sure that my bacteria is immune to Amoxylin and Septrin. There are now reports in the media on
the problems to come with the overuse of antibiotics. Please click:
