ASHAMED TO BE AUSTRALIAN

I am ashamed to be Australian and read of inhumane treatment of refugees on Manus Island. The world has watched the movement of refugees in the Middle East and South East Asia.

By far the greatest problem exists in nations bordering on Syria. Families have left their homes to escape for their lives.

Parents have sought to find safe haven for their children. Refugees have drowned in the Mediterranean Sea.

There is a refugee problem in South East Asia with boat people from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Iraq seeking refuge in Australia.

They are illegal immigrants but escaping from violence and death. Surely Australian parents would do no less. They would be totally unprepared for the inhumane treatment by the Australian Government and Opposition.

Most Australians would be unable to handle being in gaol with their children and no hope whatever of being released.

There is a fascist outlook by the Australian government who are prepared to write off human beings including children to set an example to others yet to come.

There is a strong message being given out to refugees to come. That is that they have no hope whatever of entering Australia, even if they have genuine reasons to seek refugee status.

We are being told that these people will be punished if returned to their country. Inmates of the Manus refugee centre are showing mental illness. The official view is that they are breaking the law. This is Gestapo thinking.

Children are facing intolerable stress at being in a prison camp of Manus and Nauru with no hope for the future.

I am an Australian who has been prepared to stand up for other people. My father fought in the war. He always told me to defend people not able to defend themselves.

The treatment of refugees is totally un-Australian as are the Prime Minister Abbott and Opposition Leader Shorten.

What happens to these refugees? Do they just stay in the refugee camp until they stink and die. The children have no hope of any future whatever.

It is all to teach a lesson to other refugees not to come. Present inmates are permanent dead meat. Shame Australia.

Their stink will hang in the air to the north of Australia from this time. They are sacrifices to Australian forward defence.

Now we read that doctors in the refugee centre will be gaoled if they speak out on conditions in the refugee camp. The Gestapo would arrest any German person who ever spoke of what was happening in their concentration camp town. Please click:

It seems that Australia is taking a sharp turn to the extreme right with the Opposition Leader following behind like a small puppy dog. There would not have been a problem if the refugees were British.
