The last two reports on this blog
have dealt with the HIV virus in the blood stream and in the hiding places
mainly in the lymph system.
The raped woman has to have ARV
treatment early while the virus is still in the blood.
A woman having sex with an HIV positive
man will have to have ARV treatment early so that the virus is killed in the
blood stream.

Now
there is a new development reported in the media. Up to now, the virus could be
killed in the blood but not in the hiding places. So the person was always
infected.
The ARV treatment killed in the blood
only. If the sufferer stopped ARV treatment, the virus will cease to be dormant
and burst out of the hiding places.

Chronicle 9 August 2015 P.27.
The antiretroviral treatment has been
the cornerstone of therapy. It kills the virus in the bloodstream but leaves the
HIV reservoirs or hiding places untouched.
Experts say that new findings are interesting
but have to be shown to be safe among patients. A strategy known as “kick and kill” is thought to be the key
to curing infection.
The
new drug would kick the dormant HIV in the hiding places and allow drugs to
kill it. Once out in the blood, it can be killed.
A new report has said that the PEP005
is highly potent in reactivating latent HIV. It represents a new group of lead
compounds for combating HIV.
Professor Sharon Lewin from the
University of Melbourne said the results were interesting and marked an
important advance in finding new compounds.
