I have just received two text messages from a PNG colleague and friend writing from Erave in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. I can feel the horror in his words.
Text 1: There is a tribal fight nearby at Erave. A person has just been chopped to death. Oh my God this is a barbaric and inhuman act. I want to come back to Port Moresby.
Text 2: Wild animals still on the run after so many years of civilization. It happened under my nose an hour ago.
