During World War 2, the key aircraft of the British Fleet Air Arm were the Pathfinders that would fly to Germany to guide the way for the other aircraft.
The Pathfinders had a new invention called Radar but did not want the Germans to find out. So they spread the word that they had special night vision, the result of a diet of carrots.
The story is that the Germans accepted the report. The Commander of the Pathfinders was supposed to have special carrot night vision. Haha.
