The Seventh Day Adventists have an excellent way to promote religious understanding from Scripture. They select the most key verses that are memorized by the faithful.
In religious education, the students do not wade through books of the Bible. The pastor may explain the whole picture but focus on memory verses that may stay with the student all their lives.
I learned the verse below as a young boy. It is a key text one of many. At Sunday school in the 1950s, I learned Psalm 96 at the age of 8 years and received a prize.
Sing unto the Lord a new song. Sing unto the Lord all the earth. Sing unto the Lord bless his name. Shew forth His Salvation from day to day.
The text below would be priority for the Seventh Day Adventists:
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have ever lasting life.
It is the task of religious education to make learning from the Bible simple, practical and relevant to the issues of family, morality, forgiveness, values and living a God fearing life.
Memorization is the key to locking thoughts away for life. This activity should be used in schools particularly in the lower grades.
I have to work on my forgiveness of those who sought to destroy the Positive Living message in Papua New Guinea. But they should not respond with silence and go on hating. Paedophilia is sin and a crime.
