MARRIAGE IN SCRIPTURE

Dag Heward-Mills MODEL MARRIAGE
A Marriage Counselling Handbook
ISBN 13:  978-0-7963-0967-9

This report has been written in honour of my wife
Rosemary Copeland with whom I broke my marriage in
1993. Whatever were good reasons as I had thought,
I did wrong in the eyes of God. I wish there could
be reconciliation. I have two children in PNG and
their needs are paramount.

There are those who say that Scripture consists of fairy
stories. But if we read, we find an amazing uniformity to
advise us to live a Godly lifestyle. And at times, a chilling
invocation to us all to remain faithful to our spouse.

What is a beloved?

My beloved is mine and I am his.

Solomon 2:16

Marriage

To avoid fornication, let every man have his own
wife and let every woman have her own husband.

Genesis 2:18

Leaving

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his
mother and shall cleave unto his wife.

Genesis 2:24

Wisdom

understanding it is established.

Proverbs 24:3

Blessed

Blessed is the man who walks not in the
counsel of the ungodly, nor sitteth in the
seat of the scornful. But his delight is in
the law of the Lord. And in his law he
doth meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree, planted by the
rivers of waters. His leaf shall not wither
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Ungodly

The ungodly are not so, but are like chaff
which wind driveth away. The Lord knoweth
the way of the righteous. But the way of the
ungodly shall perish.

Psalms 1: 1-6

Sinners

But God commanded his love towards us. While
We were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

breasts satisfy thee at all times and thou be ravished
always by her love.

that love it shall eat the fruit.

subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in
every thing.

Ephesians 5: 22-24

of kindness, grace, love, patience, humility, peace, forgiveness,
