CONCERN OVER ARV DRUG HOLIDAYS

Concern has been expressed in Papua New Guinea over unavailability of antiretroviral drugs in the Western Province.

Some 500 sufferers are involved. Chairman of the National AIDS Council Sir Peter Barter criticised the view that a sufferer could go from 7 to 21 days without ARV.

He stated that sufferers had to take the drugs every day or suffer the danger of immunity of the HIV.

Life must be difficult for highlands sufferers between tribal fights, landslides, floods and blocked roads. Now they are struggling to get their ARV drugs. Many are going to die from this problem.
