RIGHTS AND WRONGS OF CONDOMS

Condoms have been used over many centuries to prevent fertilization. These were often made of animal skin and fastened with a length of silk string.

Over the years, condoms became the symbol of adulterous and promiscuous sex. The Catholic church opposed the condom for its effect on marriage.

The church has been concerned that condoms will break down the institution of marriage. The purpose of sex was procreation not adultery.

But now the importance of the condom has changed with the pandemic of HIV/AIDS. Now the church is between the devil and the deep blue sea. Some churches are not worried. Please click:

ANGLICAN CARE DISTRIBUTES CONDOMS

GIVE CONDOMS TO POLICE WIVES

It has to address two matters in relation to condoms - procreation and infection with the HIV virus. It is not possible to allow one use but not the other. It has to be all or nothing.

There is a deep problem with Catholic health centres deep in the rural areas of Papua New Guinea. Men and women will not be able to obtain condoms there but there is no other centre for long distances away.

The church is worried about the thin edge of the wedge in allowing condoms. We know of the gay and lesbian agenda to introduce all children to condoms not for education but for subversion. Please click:

The Papua New Guinea Department of Education has announced that condoms will be distributed to school children. The issue has gone off the rails. Please click:

DAUGHTER SPEAKS ON CONDOMS

There are times when couples need condoms. What happens with a loving married couple, one of whom is HIV infected?

What about a woman who suffers from pregnancy after pregnancy? Procreation is not an end in itself. The human race should not be breeding like rabbits.

It comes down to the fact that condoms is a matter of individual choice. The person knows the reasons for using a condom. It becomes a matter of "Don't ask. Don't tell".

But it does not help if the only health centre within two days walk of the village is a Catholic centre that does not hold condoms.

Food for thought: Do paedophile priests use condoms?
