PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The school year has started and the founder of AIDS Holistics has been given work with Juha College in Port Moresby teaching Personal Development to Grades 9 and 10.
He is a registered teacher in Papua New Guinea with qualifications and experience in teaching Biology to grade 11.
The principal has plans for HIV/AIDS awareness to be taken up into the Enga province by the school. It seems that AIDS Holistics is in the driving seat.
We have more friends than we realize and this time we are being given a little funding.
The course in Personal Development runs along the same lines as the message of AIDS Holistics particularly in relation to personal growth, family and family values, rights and responsibilities. Please click:
Our focus on HIV/AIDS is broader than we find on this course. It will not stop the presentation of a broad and practical message.
It will be much more specific and comprehensive but simplified in the hands of an experienced teacher and HIV/AIDS campaigner.
This all has many implications. It means that the message of AIDS Holistics has merged with the personal development message of the Department of Education. This is professional work being presented by a professional teacher.
Very little will change in the family message. The Principal has asked that the course does not raise certain divisive issues that AIDS Holistics has made part of our agenda. That is reasonable. One major issue at a time is sufficient.
The course has commenced in a most confident way. The HIV/AIDS message starts in Grade 10 but the basics have been given to grade 9 as well. After all, the students in grade 9 are 15 and 16 years old.
Lessons over the last week have focused on HIV/AIDS, the physiology of the body and the HIV attack on the gut. This lays the foundation for the grade 9 curriculum on the importance of nutrition, health and family living.
I have talked of mother to child transmission, circumcision, pathway of nutrients from the small intestine to the liver, importance of antiretroviral drugs during and after pregnancy and dangers of smoking during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
I have talked on the passage of fat from the small intestine up the lymph vessels to the heart, heart attacks, the modern PNG life span and the importance of fruit and vegetables.
Today we discussed faeces, constipation, fibre, pigbel and our family practice of cleaning the digestive tract in season with mangoes, pineapples, watermelons and guavas. The Minister for Health and HIV/AIDS would be proud.
It is an amazing experience to walk into a job and be totally confident. I have urged students to come to my Personal Development classes every day.
There will be something new to talk about every day. This will be a richer course than the standard Personal Development course. But we will cover all objectives and requirements.
I still recall the report posted on internet that the founder of AIDS Holistics should be shut down as his advice is rubbish. That was the work of one of the people in the divisive issue that we will not talk about.
Time is showing this to be wishful thinking. There is no report on this blog that may ever be changed. There are no known errors.
