CYANIDE IN THE FLY RIVER

This is to remind the Government of the barge that sank in the Fly River over 30 years ago carrying a cargo of barrels of cysnide.

By now the barrels would have corroded. There has always been a danger to villagers of cyanide pollution.

Now the River is to be dredged. Care will need to be taken with the barrels. Perhaps these have been swept out to sea.
