BRIEFINGS FOR STUDENTS - HIV/AIDS -FAMILY LIVING

Port Moresby 19 May 2011, the founder of AIDS Holistics was
guest speaker of Catholic Family Living with Ms Lucy Lavu and
Mr Steven Dama who held briefings for grade 9 students of St.
Charles Lwanga High School of Gerehu.

My briefings were on HIV/AIDS in the physiology of the body and
a young woman selecting a husband.

Physiology of the Body

a.         progress of virus from infection with/without ARV;
b.         the body as built around a long tube;
c.         skin on outside and mucous layer on inside;
d.         function of mucosa in mouth, anus, penis and vagina;
e.         role of the small intestine or gut;
f.          role of mucous and epithelial layers of gut;
g.         gut attack by HIV coming in the artery;
h.         blockage of nutrients, water and salts;
i.          ARV and strong nutrition to repair gut lining;
j.          damage to mucosa of anus by gay men;
k.         circumcision and mucosa of penis;
l.          mucosa of the vagina;
m.        mucosa of mouth and infection by tonsils;
n.         lymph system of the body.
o.         attack of gut parasites on gay men.

TO UNDERSTAND THE ATTACK ON THE GUT
IS TO KNOW A NEED FOR STRONG NUTRITION
PARTICULARLY AFTER ARV TREATMENT STARTS.

Sexually Transmitted Infections

a.         VD, Gonnohorea, Syphilis and HIV;
b.         genitals accumulate STIs, CD4 and HIV;
c.         HIV accumulates in person with STIs.

Young Woman selecting Husband

a.         a series of issues to consider;
b.         danger of rushing into marriage;
c.         marrying man who makes her pregnant;
d.         problems of violent man
e.         man with many wives;
f.          financial difficulties;
g.         HIV infection;
h.         faith shared,
i.          acceptance by family.

This briefing and discussion went for over an hour
with breaks. It was not complex as the presenter is
an experienced teacher to give a talk to remember
with coloured diagrams and humour.

We go back this week to talk to the Grade 10s. Let
us hope that this is the start of briefings of the new
story to school students.
