MARIJUANA AND INSANITY

Papua New Guinea:  The National 18 May 2011

An increasing number of young men in the lower Bena area and
Forapi villages in the Eastern Highlands are growing and taking
marijuana at an alarming rate, according to Sister Dorah Riyong.

She said during a community-based rehabilitation program that
she found a disturbing number of young men abusing marijuana.
She said the majority were aged 20-23 years.

Some had already been identified to have drug abuse psychosis
and showing signs of insanity. She said the community needed a
changed approach. People should realize that marijuana was bad.

There needs to be more awareness in the community of effects of
abusing marijuana and homebrew to make people aware of the
risks associated with these substances.

Comment: There is slow awareness that marijuana grown in Papua
New Guinea is among the most potent in the world.

Young men who smoke PNG marijuana may mentally deranged. We
regularly read in the media of murders committed by men under the
influence of marijuana and homebrew. Australian smokers of PNG
marijuana need to understand that.

We only have one brain and when that is damaged, that is all we have.
Damaged brain cells are not replaced.

AIDS Holistics was once in contact with a family that had two young
men in their 20s. Both were quite deranged from smoking marijuana.

One engaged himself in sitting and making notes all the time. He would
laugh at any time and then make notes. Then he would laugh more and
make more notes. It was as if he made a perpetual joke with himself.

The other was the opposite. He told the family that he would kill any
family member who spoke to him. These young men totally dominated
the family with stress and fear.

There are foolish people in the world who have campaigned for years
to have marijuana legalized. They want the right to be demented.
