There is a report in the PNG Post Courier 3 May 2011 of a
young woman warning young people to be more responsible
with mobile phones.
She said that young people should not be swayed by sweet
talking "sugar daddies" preying on young girls and "cougars"
who try to lure young boys for sex.
She may well be generalizing from her own experience. What
she says has truth. But she does not know that there would be
thousands of young girls and boys phoning men to seek sex.
I have the insight of a 13 year old daughter who joins her class
mates to have phone friends. They ring boys to be their phone
friends. She has an 18 year old boy ringing her and it is coming
down to talking to her of sex. She is at the stage of blocking.
But young women have a way to contact any man as long as
she knows his mobile number. She will be the one doing the
sweet talking.
Why is the PNG media anti-men? It is always the men doing
wrong to young people. It may be 50-50. But that does not
fit the anti-man agenda.
