STUDY IN DEMENTIA - SAMEO

I was involved with helping Joe Lari 3 Angels Care with people suffering

from HIV/AIDS. There were several young women at the Centre and in
the final stages of the virus.

They were thin with hair falling out making them look like old women of

85 years. There was no ARV in those days. The people on the drugs are

now able to start a new life. But not all PNG people are on ARV.

Joe had one extra young woman but no space. I volunteered to help her

by allowing her stay at my home. Her name was Sameo and sister-in-law

of a senior parliamentarian at that time.

When his brother died of AIDS, he took his sister-in-law wrapped in a

blanket and dumped her. She was found and passed on to the Provincial

AIDS Office. She came to my house and lived for 6 weeks before she

died. That was really hard work.

She would wander around. The problem is that with dementia, she may

not be able to find her way back. One night she asked to be let out of
the iron security door to the kitchen to wash the clothes in the laundry.

I went back to work on the computer and suddenly realized that there

was no sound of washing. She was gone. I searched the streets but
with no success.

At about 3.00am, there was a knock at the door. It was Sameo come

back. She said she never left but was sitting under the house playing 

cards with a group of men. This lady was demented.

Later she told the neighbour that she was playing and won K1500. Then

the police arrived and arrested the white man. She went down to Boroko

police station and bailed him out. It cost her K1500. He must have done

something really bad.

Some days later, she advised that her room had been attacked by raskols

in the night and they had stolen all her goods. She was saved by the Prime

Minister who came to the window in a helicopter.

These are what are called delusions or hallucinations. With delusions,
we only think. With hallucinations, we actually see people as in dreams.

Her health dropped over the weeks. My children said that Sameo used
to go through my trouser pockets and take money to smoke. She liked
to sit outside under the house. The smoke would drift away. Cigarettes

helped in her rapid decline of health.

She preferred to sleep on the ground outside. So a mattress was placed

under a tree. She would urinate and defaecate on sheets and mattress. It
would all stink. And she would stink.

I would carry her to the bathroom like a giant stick insect. It is not good
for a man to be washing a woman’s private parts. All she had to do was
to cry rape and the trouble would just be starting. She was demented.

On her last night, I awoke to find her gasping for air unable to breathe.
It may be that the virus and smoking finally destroyed her immune system

and red blood cells.

She was suffocating. I sat beside her until she died.  Through a demented

haze, she called me daddy. There was nothing I could do. I wrapped her

body in a sheet and took her to the morgue. My daughters would never
go into the room in which she had died.

Dementia is a force to horrify a loving family that has never been warned
of what to expect.

When Joe Lari came, Sameo would complain that she was being abused.

She said she was being starved. This is not the first time that a person had

refused to eat and then complained. She had no food in her stomach and

would not eat. She wanted cigarettes and beer.

Had the AusAID lesbian advisors visited, they would have used this as the

very final condemnation of Positive Living. It was too late for that. She was

dying. They were experts in palliative care from the safety of their office.

They had as much AIDS experience as a group of Woolworths check-out

girls but were paid half a million dollars for their lack of knowledge. They

were experts in women’s rights and violence of men. Not much use to a

dying AIDS patient.

AIDS Holistics was involved with 8 people dying of AIDS. This is not

enough for a definitive study. There was insight that those who followed

Positive Living had lived longer and did not die demented. Cigarette
smoking seemed a key factor.

Post Script:  AIDS Holistics looked after the lady for two months out

of private funds. The lesbian advisors had warned the owner of 3 Angels

Care that if any of his funding goes to AIDS Holistics, the funding would

be withdrawn and he would be required to pay back what he had spent.

The lesbian advisors were ugly Australians who breached the sovereignty

of thisnation and bullied all PNG people including the PNG doctors. The

company that employed them has had its services terminated in early 2011.

They wanted to introduce a gay and lesbian agenda not a family Positive

Living agenda. They were the Australian gay and lesbian Nazis.

Their company based in Melbourne should never be employed anywhere

in the world. The world should accept Australia is unreliable in providing

HIV/AIDS advisors. They will just send a gang of gays and lesbians who

will quite blatantly set up their own agenda to attract pretty girls and boys

and destroy their families.
