AUSAID LESBIANS TRICK PNGDF

About 3 years ago, AusAID Burnett conducted AIDS awareness on Murray, Taurama and Igam Barracks. Project coordinator was Ms Taimbari of gay and lesbian Burnett (PNG).

Project workers spent much time finding out about the sex habits and violence of soldiers. But when it came to AIDS awareness, soldiers missed out. We have copies of reports from Burnett on the three programs that reflected a focus only on women, boys and girls.

It was probably based on the traditional lesbian focus on women's rights and gender equity. There has always been a lesbian strategy to keep it all a secret from the men.

This was in the time of Commander Peter Ilau. The new Commander Brigadier Francis Agwi had announced on taking up his new post a concern for military families.

But you would think that the awareness campaign above would focus also on soldiers and their families. Sorry, that is not the lesbian way.

After criticism of the campaign was posted on our earlier blog, Coordinator Taimbari sought to have the founder of AIDS Holistics arrested by the Boroko police.

AusAID should now follow the approach of the UN that no longer talks of rights of women and violence of men. They refer to men and women working together.

This has been the result of the future prospect of 22 reserved seats in parliament for women. UN focus on the dirty tricks will follow the women seated in parliament.

Perhaps AusAID could fund Welfare officers in the bases of the PNGDF. We should not just rely on fly-in and fly-out lesbian advisors giving free advice only to women, boys and girls. Welfare officers could be posted from the Department for Community Development.
